Size: 159,000 SF addition / 120,000 SF remodel
Completion: July 2007
Architect / Engineer: Zimmerman Architectural Studios, Inc.

Project Description:

The new four-story addition houses academic and research programs while a fifth floor contains the mechanical systems supporting the building. The basement level houses heavy-duty laboratories. Renovation of the existing ME Building includes: new electrical and data infrastructure to support several modern research laboratories, classrooms, and lecture halls; an atrium to provide a central gathering place; a new central HVAC system to replace the substandard, multiple mechanical systems formerly serving the building; and a new elevator to make all areas of the building accessible to the disabled. The historical façade of the ME Building has been preserved, and a new entryway was created on the main street of the Engineering campus.
