This project involved a 115,000 square-foot addition to the original manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters for Palermo Pizza. A significant portion of the expansion will grow Palermo’s pizza crust producing capabilities. This project added space for two additional production lines and an expanded bakery. The production spaces are refrigerated using an ammonia refrigeration system. The style of the building addition is meant to complement the original design; the exterior is brick and made to resemble an Italian villa.
Insulated precast was used for the plant. Production floors are finished with a light reflective hardener to increase the effectiveness of the energy efficient lighting. The front area floors are a highly polished dyed concrete; they provide a rich finish to complement the warm tones of the space. The concrete floor is durable and easy to sanitize. Some of the equipment was manufactured and shipped from Italy, so Miron managed the schedule to accommodate equipment installation for production. With tight lead and shipping times, Miron’s team had to make sure the spaces were available to begin accepting the equipment for installation well ahead of completing the building.
