The new two-story, four-track, K-4 elementary school mimics both its educational programming and the site topography. A long, curving central corridor follows the natural topography of the site. It also physically links all grade levels together while separating the early childhood and kindergarten from the upper level grades. The mass of the building is softened by a heavily textured brick that is corbelled to further accentuate the effect of the texture and is designed to capture as much natural light as possible.
The new school features administration and student services offices; cafeteria with seating capacity for 200 students; separate car and bus drop-off areas; parking for 150 cars; soccer field; softball field and hard surface area with playground equipment; 16 instructional classrooms for grades 1-4; two early childhood classrooms with toilets; four full-day kindergarten classrooms with toilets; four designated resource areas; classroom spaces for LD, ED, CD, reading specialists, speech, OT/PT, and Chapter I; individual classrooms for music, vocal, and art; library; two computer classrooms; and a two-station gymnasium with bleacher capacity for 500 people.
