The expanded Communication Arts Building provides distinct performance and exhibit space for the University’s growing music, theater, and arts program. The project incorporates 91,000 square feet of renovated space and 72,000 square feet of new construction that includes a grand entrance and pre-assembly lobby. The renovation features an acoustically sound 340-seat recital hall, 120-seat black box theater, art-instruction studios, music library, two galleries, classrooms, and support space. In addition, the project moves 3-D Art into renovated space in adjacent Molinaro Hall. The project includes remodeled space in three interconnected buildings including the Communication Arts building, Molinaro Hall School of Modern Industry, and Wyllie Hall.
The new construction and renovation reflects the existing architectural character of the campus, comprised of well-designed modernist structures with exposed concrete, matching brick face, and clear bronze-tinted windows.
