Project Description:

This five-story Trega Foods facility addition has a structural steel frame, insulated precast wall panels, and insulated metal panels that create the exterior skin of the building. The 36,000 square-foot addition houses evaporating, drying, and packaging equipment for the processing of whey permeate. Whey permeate is the by-product of removing the protein fraction from the whey. It contains about 85% lactose and 15% minerals, and is both a nutritional and functional food and feed ingredient. Until recently, the liquid whey permeate had been hauled out and applied to surrounding area fields.
