Owner: State of Wisconsin
Size: 62,000 SF Addition / 60,600 SF Remodel
Completion: April 2003
Architect / Engineer: Continuum Architects & Planners

Project Description:

The new floor space and remodeled existing building flow into one another to create contiguous departmental floors. A connector houses all of the support functions, such as libraries and meeting/training rooms, and helps to act as mediator between the existing building and the new “cube.” The point at which the irregular geometries of the new building met provided unique opportunities for special lobbies and central conference rooms on each floor.

The building’s orientation takes advantage of natural daylighting. Sunlight enters the interior portions of the building through the use of sculpted ceilings and larger glazed areas on the exterior.
