The new Heart of the Valley YMCA, located in Kimberly, is the eastern representative of the YMCA of the Fox Cities. The new facility, designed to serve 10,000 annually, offers a gymnastics center, family pool, gym, childcare areas, snack bar, aerobic center, dance studio, fitness room, and a suspended track.
The gym addition included a second gymnasium, expanded offices, renovated family locker room, and finished second floor bonus room, serving as the first phase of the master plan and alleviating congestion in the current gym area. The project faced some significant funding shortfalls early in the design process which jeopardized the project. Miron worked closely with the architect to reduce the project budget by almost 30% during the schematic design phase. An additional $100,000 was saved in the detailed design phase to ultimately bring the project within budget. Finally, the project was completed under the final contract amount with savings returned to the Owner at the completion of the project.
