Project Overview

Using a multi-phased approach, this remodel project enhanced Aspirus Grand View’s outdated Emergency Department, Outpatient Laboratory, and Pharmacy spaces.

Phase I brought a new pharmacy and outpatient lab, which is used for procedures such as drawing blood and urine analysis. Phase II included a complete remodel of the hospital’s emergency department. The new ER features 10 private rooms with electronic doors and storage space, as well as an additional room for patients awaiting results. Phase III involved remodeling the old emergency department into an atrium area that will act as a waiting room.

The facility has remained in operation throughout construction. Through thorough communication and project phasing, the team has been able to complete each area without compromising patient and staff experiences.

Rapid Access Prototyping was used extensively throughout the project to ensure an ideal patient and staff experience in the new spaces. The use of this tool, along with innovation team engagement, also helped to eliminate change orders during construction.
