Project Overview

This two-story steel-framed and pre-cast concrete building provides drive-through maintenance and vehicle storage for the airport’s fleet of more than 30 airfield snow removal vehicles. In addition to the drive-through maintenance bay, the facility also features an onsite welding and fabrication area, a light vehicle maintenance area, a vehicle wash area with loading station for the liquid runway deicer trucks, a vehicle staging and storage area, and a snow operations office.

The building, which is seeking Silver LEED certification, incorporates a number of green design elements throughout. It features a 100-kilowatt rooftop photovoltaic system, making it the largest municipal solar project in Wisconsin. Water-efficient plumbing fixtures, energy-efficient mechincal systems, and a geothermal heating and cooling system are also used throughout the facility.
