Project Overview

The North DeBot Residence Halls—Watson and Thomson—underwent renovations during the summers of 2014 and 2015, respectively, to improve accessibility, safety, and function. The residence halls were modified to be ADA-accessible with private baths on the second and fourth floors, a five-stop elevator, and an exterior ramp to the lobby level to accommodate mobility-restricted residents. The scope of work included:

  • Fire sprinkler suppression system
  • Ramp and patio reconstruction
  • Window replacements with energy-efficient frames and glazing
  • Elevator installation
  • Lighting and data upgrades
  • Thin-coat plaster over existing block walls
  • Interior finish and furniture upgrades, along with front desk lobby and lounge area upgrades
