In early October, Team Miron set out to build legacies with more than 100 students at a Construction Career Works Experience. We invited students from Wausau East High School, Wausau West High School, Marathon High School, Mosinee High School, and D.C. Everest Senior High School to participate in a hands-on experience aimed to educate them about the opportunities in the construction industry.
The immersive day provided multiple hands-on activity stations and presentations on:
Masonry | Students constructed a brick wall and utilized a robotic total station
Vertical Concrete | Students gained insight into how concrete is formed and placed
Horizontal Concrete | Students assisted with a mock concrete pour
Virtual Design and Construction | Students learned about the digital design tools that are utilized in all phases of construction
Project Management and Site Supervision | Students took a deep dive into the careers that connect the field and offices together
Since the event was held at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital project, students were also able to take a tour through active construction, allowing them to see firsthand what they have learned in the classroom. The tour further expanded the students’ base knowledge of construction and opened new learning paths and opportunities.
