DEI at Miron
Different Perspectives Make Us Better Together
We believe diversity drives innovation, so we’re dedicated to assembling a team with a wide range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. It’s about creating an environment where every person feels valued and can do their best work. That commitment spans race, gender, age, religion, identity, ability, and experience.
DEI at Work
Putting Words into Action
DEI is woven into how we hire, train, support, and show up for our people and communities. Here’s how it works.
Culture
Building a workplace that’s diverse, safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.
Recruitment
Partnering with diversity-focused organizations to build a stronger, more equitable team.
Training
Equipping employees with the tools and awareness to be effective allies.
Employee Networks
Turning allyship into action through employee-led groups and volunteerism.
Community
Investing our time and resources in our communities and important causes.
Culture of Care
Culture of Care Impact Champion
At Miron, we’re committed to creating a workplace where every team member feels safe, respected, and supported. Through our Culture of Care pledge, we will continue fostering an environment free from harassment, hazing, and bullying. By taking the pledge, Miron commits to the following principles:
- COMMIT to hire and pay based on skill and experience regardless of ability, age, ethnicity, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
- ATTRACT prospective employees by creating inclusive workplaces that are free from harassment, hazing, and bullying.
- RETAIN high-performing employees by identifying and removing barriers to advancement.
- EMPOWER every employee to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion.
DEI in Action
Turning Commitment Into Action
Different perspectives make us stronger. By fostering an environment where people feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to contribute, we continue building a stronger team and company.
Building an Inclusive Workforce
Miron actively recruits from diverse populations while guided by diversity-focused workforce organizations, namely Urban League of Greater Madison, Latino Academy of Workforce Development, Forward Service Corporation, and WRTP/Big Step.
Million Women in Construction Pledge: In 2024, Miron joined the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Million Women in Construction Community Pledge, committing to help close the skilled trades gap by increasing women’s access to training, jobs, and leadership opportunities in construction.
Be More Than a Bystander
Miron has incorporated Be More Than a Bystander training into our leadership conferences and expanded it to foremen, superintendents, office employees, interns, and craftspeople. The program equips participants with real tools to recognize and safely intervene during workplace bullying, harassment, and violence.
Real Allyship Work
Miron engages our Employee Network Groups, incorporating Miron Volunteer Program opportunities, learning from external diversity experts, participating in meaningful allyship work, and taking other steps of progress that will embed accountability for DEI.
Powerful Volunteer Efforts
More than 100 team members have volunteered with the Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity Women Build, and our Women’s Network has repackaged more than 27,000 period products since 2023 to fight period poverty. And that’s just a snapshot of our community outreach: Miron employees donate 750+ hours each year to local organizations.
Educating the Next Generation
Build Like a Girl
While women comprise a mere 10.9% of the construction industry (with only a staggering 1% of laborers in the field being women), an evolving workforce equates to endless job opportunities and strong salaries for skilled craftspeople.
To build female interest in the construction industry, Miron hosted a FREE, annual event for local 7th through 10th grade female students. The “Build Like a Girl” event offered a full day of hands-on experiences as well as an in-depth look at opportunities within the industry.
