University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Riverside Science Center

Eau Claire, Wisconsin

This new state-of-the-art, five-story facility will house biology, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, geography and anthropology, geology and environmental science, public health and environmental studies, neuroscience, materials science and biomedical engineering, physics and astronomy, and nursing programs. An additional sixth floor will include mechanical equipment spaces, a greenhouse, and an observatory.

Mayo Clinic Health System will be leasing 10,000 square feet of this space as part of a research collaboration with UW-Eau Claire and will occupy research, instructional, office and meeting space within the building. Mayo’s learning spaces will include biofabrication labs, a surgical suite, telehealth training areas, and an innovation suite.

Flexible classrooms adapt to a variety of teaching methods, while the labs are equipped with the latest technology for cutting-edge research. To infuse the spaces with natural light, the interior is organized around a central atrium with outdoor views at each level.

The building is part of the master plan to expand and modernize the University of Iowa Hospital and enhances the university’s ability to attract and retain top students and faculty.
