UW-Stout Harvey Hall Academic Building Remodel

UW-Stout Harvey Hall Academic Building Remodel

Menomonie, Wisconsin

Built in 1916, Harvey Hall is on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing building in the Menomonie Downtown Historic District. It is one of UW-Stout’s largest and oldest academic buildings, and the busiest classroom facility on campus. The project goal: preserve notable historic spaces while updating crucial building systems; and create spaces that feature 21st century technologies to encourage active learning.

This total makeover of the four-story structure updated infrastructure, remodeled spaces, and greatly improved the functionality and safety of the building, which houses the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

Renovations included new windows; reconfigured and updated classrooms; remodeled offices and bathrooms; and new electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and telecommunications systems. The remodeled building also eliminates asbestos and lead-based paint, and provides upgrades to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
