AIA and AGC Urge President, Congress to Adopt Measures to Boost Design and Construction Work

As a member of both the AGC and AIA, I see the effect the weak economy has had on the design and construction industries. As we face 30% unemployment rates, many are leaving the industry and fewer young people are seeking education and training in these industries. At the same time, our facilities and infrastructure continue to deteriorate. The cost to maintain and operate within these aging facilities will inevitably need to be addressed to keep us competitive with other world leaders. We need to act soon to update our built environment and maintain the skilled resources necessary to replace aging infrastructure, facilities and systems.
