Chelsea Bongert walked into City Hall 4½ years ago with an idea and a colored pencil drawing for a sexual assault survivors monument.
She was told by then Community and Economic Development Director Karen Harkness that the project was worthy and achievable, but it would take time.
That time is here. The Sexual Assault Survivors Monument now stands at Ellen Kort Peace Park on West Water Street along the Fox River. It will be dedicated to the community during a ceremony at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the park.
Bongert is amazed at how many people and companies came together to support her idea for healing and turn it into a striking monument.
