Kaukauna school creates dominoes out of 650 cereal boxes to be donated to food pantry
Students in Kaukauna are having fun while fighting food insecurity.
Victor Haen Elementary School collected hundreds of boxes of cereal as part of the Do Good Wisconsin Cereal Box Domino Challenge. The school successfully surpassed its goal of 500 boxes, with nearly 650 donated in the last month.
As part of the challenge, schools of similar sizes across Wisconsin compete against one another to amass the most cereal boxes, which are donated to the food pantry of choice for each school. With those cereal boxes, students attempt to make the best domino video.
“It’s all about building that community and that family here at our school, and then giving back to the community as well. Not only are we collecting boxes and we’re bringing things in to help others, but then we’re donating them right back to our local food pantry,” said Brittany Le Capitaine, who teaches third grade.
Victor Haen’s boxes will go to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Kaukauna.
