Being a part of the communities in which we live and work is at the heart of our organization. Each year, we contribute more than a million dollars to community projects, organizations, and events. We are especially dedicated to helping today’s youth, through the provision of education, construction of community facilities in which they can learn and grow, and via events that ensure their basic needs are met. A few examples of the events and organizations we sponsor and support include:
While women comprise a mere 2.6% of the construction industry nationally, an evolving workplace equates to endless job opportunities and a strong salary for skilled craftspeople. Miron Construction hosts a FREE, annual event for local 7th through 10th grade female students, that offers attendees a full day of hands-on experiences as well as an in-depth look at opportunities within the construction industry. Check out a VIDEO of last year’s event.
In addition to serving as the presenting sponsor, Miron contributes time and materials to the Community First Fox Cities Marathon, which attracts up to 14,000 participants annually and raises funds for various charitable organizations. Employees participate in event planning committees and also volunteer the day of the race. Held in September, the event includes a marathon, half-marathon, relay marathon, 5K run/walk, and children’s fun run.
Miron employees donate and raise money to sponsor Christmas parties for local children’s organizations each year. In addition, numerous employees act as Santa’s elves and shop for presents. The parties, held at a few of Miron’s regional office locations as well as the corporate office, include a variety of activities such as crafts, dinner, a visit with Santa and, of course, presents. In addition, families are sent home with enough goodies to make a fantastic holiday feast.
Miron employees have been giving generously to United Way for the past few years. In 2017, the company donated more than $300,000 to the organization (employee and corporate donations combined). A total of 83 percent of Miron employees made a pledge to the organization. Miron received the Employee Campaign Manager/Team of the Year Award for the fourth year in a row in the medium organization category from United Way Fox Cities for its 46 percent growth in overall giving (within the Fox Cities).
Quarry Quest (Past Event)
As a major sponsor of Quarry Quest, an annual family event that ran from 1998 through 2015, Miron helped to provide a better understanding of geology, mining and construction to all ages at the outing and fundraiser in Neenah, Wis. With more than 1,000 volunteers, the event offered several hands-on educational activities, including “prospecting” for fool’s gold, mixing concrete and driving machinery. Quarry Quest attracted more than 200,000 visitors and raised more than $1 million, benefiting local children’s charities.
In addition to those featured events, Miron also supports the following organizations via monetary and in-kind donations:
