Project Overview
This multi-use intramural recreation field complex (Rec Plex) features synthetic turf fields sheltered by a seasonal dome for year-round activities. It includes a lighted field for soccer, rugby, lacrosse, flag football, and softball; a warm-up field; and a permanent pavilion building to house concessions and restroom facilities.
A 65-foot-high seasonal dome is installed over 77,592 square feet of fields and lit by 78 suspended 1,000-watt metal halide fixtures, allowing for an additional five months of facility use. The dome itself is a double-membrane structure that forms an airtight bond around the entire perimeter base of the dome, resulting in reduced energy costs. When removed from the site and stored, it leaves no protrusion or tripping points to affect continued field use.
The 4.35-acre facility is used for intramural sports, sports clubs, and athletic team practices and competitions, as well as for informal recreational activities.
