Quarry Quest has another successful year!
This year marked the 15th anniversary of Quarry Quest. Roughly 16,000 people attended at Michels Materials Quarry in Neenah. Quarry Quest gives attendees the opportunity to participate in various hands-on educational activities including making your own jewelry; taking control of cranes; diggin’, dumpin’ and liftin’; and prospecting for fool’s gold.
This year, Quarry Quest raised nearly $130,000! Part of those funds will benefit local children’s charities and the Quarry Quest Environmental Educational Fund. The Fund is dedicated to funding grants for classroom supplies, activities and field trips related to earth science, geology and construction.
Krieger Jewelers of Appleton donated a beautiful piece of jewelry for the diamond dig. The grand prize was a 2.25-quarter karat princess cut diamond ring valued at $10,000, which went to Tom from Appleton.
The sand sculpting contest was also a huge hit this year, as always. First place went to Riverview Lutheran School for their rendition of Lambeau Field. Below are pictures of the first, second and third place winners.

First place – Riverview Lutheran School – Lambeau Field

Second place – Relay for Life

Third place – Casa De Avena
