Rock Out at Quarry Quest 2012!
Just because summer is winding down doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Quarry Quest will be back for its 15th year and is poised to be bigger and better than ever. Taking place September 15, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Michel’s Materials Quarry in Neenah, this exciting event offers activities for the entire family to enjoy while raising money to benefit local children’s charities and the Quarry Quest Environmental Educational Fund.
Participants will explore the inner-workings of a real quarry with hands-on educational activities including treasure hunts, fossil finds, rock-inspired arts and crafts, and interactive presentations. If you’re seeking even more adventure, don’t miss your chance to take the controls of a colossal crane, trail blaze in a Jeep, or cruise in the back of Festival Food’s giant shopping cart!
If you’ve been to Quarry Quest before, don’t think you’ve seen it all. This year’s event features a number of new activities, including:
- Treasure Trek: Test your skills and your smartphone by finding hidden treasures in this fun geocaching challenge.
- Art Still Rocks: Get transported back to pre-historic days when rocks were used to create art. Challenge your creativity as you draw, stack and carve a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
- Rock of Ages: Learn about Wisconsin’s geologic past and become a junior geologist.
And for the second year in a row, Krieger Jewelers of Appleton has donated a beautiful piece of jewelry for the Wishful Diamond Dig. For a nominal fee, participants get the chance to dig for precious and semi-precious gemstones. This year, the grand prize is a ladies 18-carat white gold 1.65 ct. diamond band with princess baguette and round cut diamonds, valued at $8,995! All proceeds from the dig will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.
