Appleton Christmas Parade ready to put holiday spirit on full display

When thousands of onlookers line College Avenue for the 44th annual Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade Tuesday night, they’ll be treated to a spectacle that lasts about 90 minutes.

But remember: There’s more than a little Christmas magic that goes into one of Appleton’s biggest nights. Many of those snazzy visuals take months of preparation to pull off.

As in years past, the parade that draws about 80,000 spectators to downtown Appleton will feature about 75 units, including floats, vehicles, walking groups and animals. Included will be 17 marching bands from east-central Wisconsin and northern Michigan high schools and communities.

“The Avenue of Lights” is the evening’s theme and hundreds of people around the Fox Valley and beyond have been hard at work to make it memorable.
