Appleton man who runs to stay sober will race in Fox Cities Marathon

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – The countdown is on for the Community First Fox Cities Marathon presented by Miron Construction. This will be its 34th year, after the marathon was canceled last year due to the weather, and many are excited for this year.
Running to some can feel like an escape from the world, but for Tate Whitlinger, it was an escape from drugs and alcohol. For Tate, there is no easy day in sobriety. He took his first drink at the age of 13, and for nearly 20 years he battled addiction.
