Crews Wrap Up Summer Work at Local Schools
While the Southern Door School District has major projects taking place this summer and next, other area schools that completed previous building projects have fewer work crews around this year.
At Gibraltar in Fish Creek – where a voter-approved, $29.8 million demolition and construction project starting next year will replace the most antiquated central section of the campus – the district was able to put off some needed repairs and updates in those old parts of the school. The main gymnasium’s interior walls this month received their first paint job since the late 1990s, and the school will raise new banners and new pads for the ends of the basketball court, according to superintendent Brett Stousland.
The school district’s auditorium, which also serves as Door Community Auditorium, will get a new roof in late summer.
