At a ribbon-cutting Thursday for Fincantieri Marinette Marine’s newest building, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers acknowledged the company’s growing importance to the state and nation as a U.S. warship builder.
“Ships built here will explore the oceans and defend our country. It’s an incredible, incredible responsibility. To that end, we want to make sure that as a state, we continue to support the good work that’s being done here,” Evers said.
Fincantieri Marinette Marine has invested over $300 million in preparation for the new U.S. Navy contract by constructing a new facility, training workers and pursuing an ongoing partnership with Wisconsin, Evers said.
