Frank Productions plans indoor music theater near Summerfest to compete with local venues
Frank Productions, a Wisconsin firm in which concert giant Live Nation has a controlling interest, will operate a freestanding indoor theater west of the Summerfest grounds along Milwaukee’s lakefront, adding a prime for-profit competitor to venues including the Miller High Life Theatre, the Riverside Theater, The Rave/ Eagles Ballroom, Potawatomi Northern Lights Theater and Fiserv Forum’s theater-level shows.
The new theater will be the first indoor, year-round venue in the Summerfest area. Typically, live shows on the Summerfest grounds are held during the warm-weather months because all the venues are outdoors.
In recent years, FPC Live opened a 2,500-capacity indoor music venue in Madison called the Sylvee in a mixed-use development along East Washington Avenue. The space is intended to be standing room only, with large, open general admission areas, all with a good view to the stage, according to contractor Miron Construction’s website.
