Miron Construction to design and build Modern Business Machines’ corporate headquarters

Posted on Mar 2, 2011 by Construction

Neenah, Wis. – Miron Construction Co., Inc., one of Wisconsin’s largest construction firms, announces partnership with Modern Business Machines (MBM) on the design and construction of their corporate headquarters. The building will be more than 30,000 square feet and located in the McMahon Business Park in Neenah, Wis. Currently in the planning phase, MBM has partnered with Miron and McMahon Associates to design an office space which will maximize workflow processes and time efficiencies, while reducing process waste.

As a part of the new building design phase, MBM employees have been assigned to “innovation teams” that are studying the interactivity between their various company departments; component to this study, the teams have created connection diagrams to determine the optimum proximity between departments in order to improve workflow, sharing of ideas and overall efficiencies.

“Every day we help our customers to streamline their business processes and improve their bottom line through the use of technology,” said Fritz Merizon, MBM president. “The goal of our new office building is to holistically reflect these same sound business practices – everything from the proximity of departments to the layout of the reception area is being examined. At the end of the day, our environment will be conducive to working smarter and faster, which will ultimately translate into enhanced customer and employee experiences.”

Further connecting the construction project with the customer experience, the innovation teams are each assigned one of MBM’s five business-guiding “i5 Pledge” principles – Innovate, Inspire, Impact, Initiate and Invest. The groups will meet weekly through the design phase to ensure these principles will resonate throughout the new building.

“At Miron Construction, we’re concerned with much more than simply bricks and mortar,” said Steve Tyink, vice president of business innovation for Miron. “Our goal is to be innovative and to help our clients strengthen their businesses by utilizing their facilities as strategic competitive weapons.”

MBM’s preliminary construction designs are scheduled to be completed in April 2011, with groundbreaking to take place later this summer. Final occupancy is planned for the 4th quarter of 2012. MBM’s current Appleton-based headquarters was built in the 1970’s; after steady business growth, the building underwent an addition in the 1990’s, expanding the space to more than 25,000 square feet.
