Neenah, Wis. –Theresa Lehma, director of sustainable services for Miron Construction Co., Inc., will be presenting at the upcoming Wisconsin Green Building Alliance (WGBA) SE2 conference: A New Focus on Green.

“Sustainability is more than a corporate driver for Miron Construction; it’s part of our culture, supported from the top-down and the bottom-up,” Lehman said. “As a member of the WGBA, it’s important for us to support its mission: to shape our future by facilitating and promoting ecologically sustainable practices within Wisconsin’s built environment.”

Lehman will present on creating high performance schools within a generation with Victoria Rydberg, environmental education consultant for the Department of Public Instruction and Jon Evans, senior mechanical engineer for Sustainable Engineering Group. This session will provide an overview of the status of high-performance sustainable schools in Wisconsin, the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Green & Healthy Schools Program, the LEED for Schools green building rating system, and strategies for integrating energy efficiency and renewable energy into the classroom. Requirements and issues that are unique to K-12 schools will be highlighted.

The session will also showcase three high performance sustainable schools: the renovation and expansion of Lake Mills Middle School (the first public school in the nation to achieve LEED for Schools Platinum certification), a school certified by the DNR Green & Healthy Schools Program and several of the Fort Atkinson School District’s student driven energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.

SE2: A New Focus on Green will take place Friday, Sept. 28, from 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. in “The Wisconsin Room” at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Lehman’s session runs from 3:35 – 5 p.m.
