Quarry Quest: Digging Up Fun!
Neenah, Wis., — Quarry Quest is back and better than ever. This exciting family outing and fundraiser benefits various children’s charities as well as the Quarry Quest Environmental Educational Fund, and offers hands-on educational activities, quarry tours and a chance to ride and explore giant construction machinery. The event has raised over $875,000 in the last twelve years.
New for 2010 is the free Adventure Journal for all children who attend. The journal comes packed full of trivia about the day’s activities and also features creative coloring pages. A complimentary coupon for Cinders Charcoal Grill is also included.
Quarry Quest is being held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 9 am to 4 pm, rain or shine, at Michels Materials Quarry, 700 Tullar Road, Neenah. Directions: Exit JJ, Main Street or Breezewood from Highway 41, and follow the signs to Tullar Road.
Admission is $6 in advance for 13 years and older, $8 at the gate; $4 in advance for 3 years to 12 years and $6 at the gate; children 2 years and younger are admitted free of charge. Children 17 and under will not be admitted unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Advance tickets are available at the following locations: Express Convenience Centers, Morton Pharmacies, Lakeview Credit Union, Fox Communities Credit Union, Festival Foods, Community First Credit Union, FABCO, Michels and Miron Construction. Event tickets can also be purchased online at www.quarryquest.com through the “Save Time, Buy On-line” promotion.
Equipment rides featured at Quarry Quest include giant haul trucks, huge front-end loaders, towering cranes, powerful excavators, and Jeep off-road rides. Guests will also be able to participate in a number of fun and educational activities, such as:
- Cooking Up a City: Learn how to make concrete
- Prospecting for Fool’s Gold: Sift through sand to find golden nuggets of pyrite
- Great Gravel: Make your own “pebble pet” out of rocks
- Fest Quest: Spin to win Festival Foods gift cards and other great prizes, or shop ‘til you drop as you ride a giant shopping cart
- Food and beverage stands will add to the festive atmosphere of this all-day, alcohol-free event
