Neenah, Wis. – Miron Construction’s director of sustainable services, Theresa Lehman, LEED Fellow and USGBC Faculty, will be presenting at the upcoming National Green Schools Conference. Lehman will be co-presenting “Using LEED to Turn Healthy, High Performance Schools into Teaching Tools,” which will focus on sharing first-hand experiences of constructing, operating and teaching in LEED certified schools.
Lehman will also present information on the LEED for Schools green building rating system and will share the success story of the expansion and renovation of the Lake Mills Middle School; the first public K-12 school in the world to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
“Lake Mills School District is supported by a school board, administrators, faculty and a community that is very in-tune with the triple bottom line benefits associated with sustainability,” Lehman said. “The Lake Mills Middle School is a high-performance and healthy school utilized as a living teaching tool. Their story is certainly one to inspire all school districts interested in greening their learning environments.”
Attendees of Lehman’s presentation will also discover how better learning environments can be the foundation of a comprehensive green school, how to get started, how to make the investment in green and what to expect as measurable results of healthy high-performance environments.
