Miron’s journey with Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) has grown from several small capital projects ranging from small office remodels and hub structure expansions in various locations throughout Wisconsin, to our most recent collaboration, the Northern Wisconsin Operations Office and Tech Operations Facility in Appleton.
Before construction on their new, 135,000 square-foot facility began, Time Warner Cable’s Kimberly operations housed over 500 employees located in nine separate buildings. The new Appleton facility provides efficiencies and camaraderie, as well as coordination and communication, due to the fact that all employees are located on one central campus. The new building was designed to accommodate higher staffing levels required to support the expected growth of Time Warner Cable’s core products.
This project was designed and released in nine bid packages in order to meet an extremely aggressive schedule.
Working with this many bid packages brought a certain degree of complexity to the project, requiring that adjustments be made in the field to accommodate later packages as they were finalized.
A focus on sustainability was implemented well into design and required taking a step back to re-engineer structural systems and building envelope systems.
Use of a Walker Duct system will allow for any changes in wiring that will be necessary when the Owner desires the use of future technologies throughout the facility.
- Even with these challenges, the project was completed one month ahead of schedule.
