Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a member of the Miron team? Below is some insight into what makes our team members tick.
Stan Harmsen | Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin
What is a typical day at Miron Construction like for you?
My days include doing estimate take-off, reviewing specs, making calls to subcontractors, and coordinating with the general estimators.
What is the best part of your day?
Being successful on a bid.
What is the most challenging part of your day?
The rush just before bid time.
What is one thing you wish you knew when you started your career as an estimator?
How fast the industry changes.
What projects are you most proud of? Why?
I’m very proud of Lambeau Field because of the size and complexity of the job.
On average, how many job sites do you visit per day?
I typically visit a job site about one or two times a week.
What is something you would say the general public does not know about the construction industry?
I think most people don’t know that there actually is a bid runner that delivers the bid, and most people don’t realize that subcontractor bids are submitted right up until bid time.
Where do you see the industry going in the future? What will it look like in the next 20 years?
I see the industry going to electronic take-off with the estimator doing some fine tuning according to site conditions, weather conditions, and the complexity of the job.
How do you spend your free time?
I like history, so I like road trips to any place that has historical significance to it.
Favre, Rodgers or other?
What is one thing you cannot live without?
