As part of Women in Construction Week 2022, we’re highlighting the women of Miron Construction – their backgrounds, what got them into construction, and what both rewards and challenges them. We hope these features inform and inspire you!

Rebecca Christensen – Civil Conceptual Estimator
- What is the most rewarding part of your job? One of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping achieve an owner’s dream by assisting them in different options and price points for construction or renovation of their building. I enjoy seeing how happy the client is when we achieve their goal.
- What made you interested in a career in construction? I am always learning; no project is the same. I get to work with various companies and clients within different organizations. I learn about their organization, what they do as a company and what their successes are. Along the way I meet some amazing people from the client, the project team and the subcontractors.
- Why is it important for women to get involved in construction? Women make up 50% of the population and are important in the construction industry because we have the ability to see things beyond the plans. We can apply real-life applications to things as they are being designed and constructed.
- What advice would you give to other young women who are interested in construction as a career? There is a place for everyone here. Get involved early and ask questions. Your willingness to learn will give you the groundwork to succeed. When most women think of construction, they think of road construction or the plumbers in the trenches. There are so many aspects to construction; you just need to find what you love.
