Question, persuade and refer: how QPR can help prevent suicide

A group of about a hundred volunteers have taught thousands of people in Outagamie, Calumet and Winnebago counties a technique meant to help prevent suicide. The technique is called QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade and Refer. The instructors got together Tuesday at Miron Construction, this time to celebrate: they set a goal in 2010 to train 10,000 people in QPR by 2020; they achieved their goal in January 2018, about two years early. Training will be offered at 10 a.m. May 19 or 6:30 p.m. May 22 at Prevent Suicide Fox Cities, 211 E. Franklin St., Appleton. Register at registration@preventsuicidefoxcities.org.
