Tubular skylights bring big savings

There’s a special feature at Plexus Corp.’s new $50 million, 473,000-square-foot, high-tech manufacturing plant now under construction in Neenah that many people may not know about or ever see unless you walked inside the facility.

In the company’s effort to make the massive building as energy efficient as possible, 763 tubular skylights were incorporated into the design. Photographs I have seen, showcasing many of the installed skylights, make it appear as if dozens of florescent lights are illuminating what will be the manufacturing floor space.

But that’s not the case at all, said David Lesandrini, a project manager for Town of Menasha-based Miron Construction, the company in charge of the building project.
