Citywide Training Exercises
On April 28, 2017, the Appleton Fire Department will be conducting a variety of training scenarios throughout the City of Appleton. These scenarios are designed to test our newest group of firefighters who will be completing a two-week, internal department class which will qualify them to become Relief Fire Apparatus Driver/Engineers.
These scenarios will mimic real-life fires and rescues that the Relief Fire Apparatus Driver/Engineers may be challenged with in their new role. Numerous property owners and construction contractors are working with the Appleton Fire Department to allow access to a variety of sites around the City of Appleton for these scenarios. The scenarios will include, but not be limited to, drafting water from the river to supply an aerial ladder truck at a simulated large fire, a rescue of a trapped individual on the river, and a construction-site rescue. One specific location we plan to utilize will be the Fox Cities Exhibition Center construction site. The owners and construction contractors at all of the locations we will utilize have worked very closely with our Training Division to ensure the most realistic scenarios possible. The Appleton Fire Department greatly appreciates their assistance and cooperation. Without their help, we would be unable to provide this high- quality training experience.
