Neenah, Wis. – Theresa Lehman, director of sustainable services for Miron Construction Co., Inc., will be speaking on a panel for the Badger Bioneers Conference 2012 on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The two-day conference will focus on sustainability, both in the region and in the nation. Lehman is one of three panelists who will be discussing employee health and sustainability. The discussion will dive deeper into topics such as encouraging alternative commuting habits, incorporating at-home green initiatives and providing inspirational advice on how to achieve cost savings and better health. The overarching focus will be tying all of these elements together, while connecting the dots between health and sustainability.

“In the construction industry, we focus on creating innovative and cost-effective sustainable solutions for the design, construction and eventual operation and maintenance of buildings that enhance the health and well-being of the building occupants and minimize environmental impacts,” Lehman said. “It’s our responsibility as industry leaders to educate our clients on green building basics so they can make better, more well-informed decisions that impact their greatest asset—their employees. People are a product of their environment and it’s important to make that connection between an organization’s wellness initiatives and sustainability initiatives. The conference is hosted by Sustain Dane, a group of sustainability entrepreneurs and networkers who have a goal of tying global sustainability trends to local area needs. Throughout the two-day conference, there will be three panel sessions focusing on topics such as sustainable college campuses and schools; sustainable businesses; green and healthy students; and local economy and social connectivity.
