Miron Construction Co., Inc. is one of a select group of companies to earn the designation of Green Master, the highest tier in the Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. As a Green Master, Miron has performed actions in each of the nine sustainability areas and has scored in the top twenty percent of all participating companies.
“Miron Construction continues to show the construction industry what sustainable business leadership looks like,” says Tom Eggert, Executive Director of the WI Sustainable Business Council. “We are proud to welcome Miron Construction back for the second year in a row as a Green Master participant.”
Benchmarking their sustainable efforts has significantly helped Miron to understand where they are along their sustainable journey and having measurable metrics enables Miron to determine new initiatives to implement to continue to improve their business practices and construction operations. Over the course of the past year, Miron’s emphasized social responsibility and focused on educational programs that impact their core business—“building green.”
“Miron is honored to have our sustainable initiatives recognized by the Green Master program,” said Theresa Lehman, director of sustainable services. “Sustainability is one of Miron’s key corporate drivers and inherently a part of our culture. We will continue to benchmark and improve our sustainable efforts through the framework of the DNR Green Tier and Green Masters programs. Our mission is to lead by example, and will continue to inspire people to make sustainable choices and share best practices with like-minded organizations, such as the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council.”
Applicants to the Green Masters Program are judged on a comprehensive range of sustainability issues, from energy to water use to educational outreach and governance.
