Miron Construction ranks among Engineering News Record’s ‘Top 100 Green Building Contractors’
Miron Construction Co., Inc. recently ranked among the ‘Top 100 Green Building Contractors’ in the nation, by Engineering News Record (ENR), for leading the construction of third-party certified sustainable buildings in the United States.
Over the past 10 years, Miron’s commitment to building green has been demonstrated by its portfolio of 63 LEED, Parksmart and Fitwel projects, valued at more than $892.7 million. Projects constructed in 2017 seeking LEED certification include the University of Iowa Elizabeth Catlett Residence Hall (awarded LEED Gold in June 2018); Miron Construction’s Iowa office; the University of Wisconsin – Madison Union Redevelopment Phase II Alumni Park (awarded LEED Silver in January 2018); the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Fletcher Hall; the City of Madison Police Department – Midtown; the University of Iowa Pharmacy Building; and the City of Madison Capitol East Parking Ramp, which is among the first in Wisconsin to seek Parksmart certification.
“It’s not by chance that we are recognized as a leader in sustainability,” Theresa Lehman, LEED Fellow, LEED AP BD+C, ID+C, WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador, director of sustainable services for Miron Construction, said. “We work hard to educate our clients, design-build partners, employees, and the community on the environmental, economic, and social benefits of building green. When decision-makers are well informed of the benefits and the life-cycle costs, they will make well-informed, sound, sustainable decisions.”
ENR attempts to bring structure to the construction industry by performing annual surveys of its key segments and ranking companies engaged in general contracting, specialty contracting, engineering, architecture, and environmental services, among other specialties. The rankings are based on annual revenue at home and abroad, and are further divided into specific sectors.
As reported by ENR, the market for green design and construction continues to grow steadily as seen from results of the Top Green Buildings survey. As a group, the Top 100 Green Design Firms generated $6.21 billion in design revenue from projects registered with, and actively seeking, certification from third-party rating groups under objective sustainable design standards.
