Project Overview
To address aging facilities and inadequate space, the Decorah community approved a new, modern replacement for the elementary school and early learning center on the existing elementary site. Designed to support both current needs and future growth, the new facility accommodates six sections of pre-K through second grade, with flexible spaces to adapt to fluctuating enrollment.
The modern design enhances security, maximizes natural light, and provides dedicated areas for both small and large group instruction. A versatile learning commons additionally serves as a cafeteria and community gathering space, while the gymnasium supports activities, practices, and recreational leagues, complete with a performance area for concerts and events.
Prioritizing well-being, the building incorporates modern security measures and sustainable design principles, ensuring high air and water quality, natural daylighting, and spaces that promote physical and mental wellness.
