Project Overview

The work at Little Falls Damn consisted of removing the existing concrete dam and constructing a new dam located in Willow River State Park on Willow River, near Hudson, WI. Crews removed a concrete arch buttress non-overflow section, powerhouse, gated section, and overflow spillway. The new dam consists of a non-overflow section, four crest gates, an intake tower with multiple slide gates to control downstream water temperatures, and a fixed-crest overflow spillway that has an ogee-shaped profile. A stilling basin was constructed downstream of the gated spillway, and a grout curtain was installed across the dam and into the abutments.
