Relay for Life

This year The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Wausau has adopted the theme of “Every Day Super Heroes Conquering Cancer.” The two-day event brings people from the community together to contribute to the work The American Cancer Society does. The mission is to help save lives and make for a world with less cancer. Are you interested in getting a team together? Call 715-848-2882.

Summer Kick Off Celebration

Wausau Area Events’ Summer Kick Off Celebration is a family-friendly event with a little something for everyone. Kids can enjoy crafting, getting their faces painted and play outdoor games while parents listen to live music performances throughout the evening. Be sure to stick around until the end – you won’t want to miss the movie, which begins playing at dusk. This event provides for a great way to welcome the season!

Wausau Buttercup Slalom Race
June 23
Wausau Whitewater Park (map)
8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Adults: $40
Youth (ages 16 and under): $15

Try your hand at navigating your canoe or kayak through hanging gates during this fun-for-all-ages slalom race. All paddlers are welcome to race up to two runs in as many classes as they’d like. The course will be set up with an optional “big drop.” For safety and membership requirements, be sure to check out the Wausau Whitewater website.

Wausau Balloon Rally & Glow
July 11-14
Wausau Municipal Airport (map)
Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Friday from 5-10 p.m., Saturday from 6 a.m.-10:30 p.m. and Sunday from 6-10:30 a.m.

From pony rides to live entertainment, this extended weekend event provides fun for the whole family with a variety of activities taking place each day. The schedule of events includes a daily balloon glow and launch; the Big Bull Falls BBQ Ribfest on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; biplane rides and scenic tours; pony and kids rides; pig racing; live entertainment; fireworks and much, much more. If you are an early riser, you can attend the Kiwanis pancake breakfast, which will start at 6 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Big Bull Falls Blues Fest
August 16-17

The Big Bull Falls Blues Fest is Wisconsin’s longest-standing blues festival. This year will mark its 22^nd year and will pull in acts both nationally and regionally for a weekend of music. Acts include Lamont Cranston Band and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. If you enjoy blues music or live music in general, you won’t want to miss this!
