Miron Construction awarded ‘Best Landscape/Hardscape/Urban Design’ by Engineering News Record Midwest
Miron Construction Co., Inc. recently received the ‘Best Landscape/Hardscape/Urban Design’ award from Engineering News Record (ENR) Midwest for its work on the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union Redevelopment Phase II & Alumni Park project.
ENR Midwest received more than 100 entries, which were evaluated by a group of individual judges from architecture, engineering, and construction firms.
The redevelopment project aimed to enhance the experience of University of Wisconsin faculty, students, and visitors by restoring significant spaces while preserving the history of the existing architecture. The completion of the $48 million phase two renovations was the culmination of a process that started with the initial design in 2009. The Memorial Union is one of the most beloved historic spaces on campus and one of the project goals was to enhance this iconic location.
The design team and Miron worked closely with the Wisconsin Historical Society and student groups to ensure the integrity of the building was preserved while improving its overall relevance, excitement, and vibrancy. Miron, in partnership with Uihlein/Wilson Architects, completed the project in October 2017.
Miron Construction will be recognized in the November print edition of ENR Midwest, as well as at an awards breakfast on Nov. 28 in Chicago. For a full list of winners, visit www.enr.com/midwest.
