Two of Miron Construction Co., Inc. employees have been named a The Daily Reporter 2021 Newsmakers of the Year award recipient. Jeff Brayton, superintendent, has been recognized as a Super Super of the Year, and Andy Derksen, project executive, as the Project Executive of the Year. The Daily Reporter annually recognizes people, companies, or organizations that led Wisconsin’s construction and design industry in a positive direction as Newsmakers of Year.
Super Super of the Year
Jeff Brayton is known to have an incredible ability to tackle the unexpected, embrace change and any challenges that come along on a project. A perfect example of his flexibility was highlighted during a recent school build, when COVID-19 hit. Jeff fought through the circumstances and delivered the project on time with little to no implications while implementing the newly emerging COVID-19 protocols. It was also during this project that Jeff demonstrated his communication style and creativity together. He sent out weekly emails to the school superintendent detailing the project status using understandable terms and comparisons, and he engaged both students and teachers by hiding stickers with the school’s logo in unexpected places for all to find.
Project Executive of the Year
Whether it is team members, clients, or subcontractors, Andy knows that forming strong relationships will help deliver against tight timelines, complex projects and high expectations. Along with his outstanding leadership qualities, he never hesitates to provide a helping hand, but more importantly, Andy is someone that you always enjoy being around. A specific story that highlights the type of leader and individual Andy is involves a colleague preparing for maternity leave. He went the extra mile to ensure it was a smooth transition, and his proactive approach took the stress off his colleague as she was going on leave as well as transitioning back to work.
