Project Overview

The goal of the design of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church was to construct a facility that was more than just a building. It needed to stir emotion and create a religious experience, while still retaining the feel of a “country church”.

The church and education buildings’ exterior consisted of rough “stone” split face block and exposed wood which tie in with the natural materials of the wooded site. The building committee wanted to use natural woods and bricks and items indigenous to Waupaca and Waushara counties. Those same materials are carried throughout the interior, creating a cohesive and comprehensive design.
