Project Overview
Seeking to create a visitor destination, the City of Cedar Rapids invested in significant enhancements to the U.S. Cellular Center and adjacent hotel. Miron was responsible for the addition of a new 129,000 square-foot convention center to the complex, which features an exhibit hall, ballroom, meeting rooms, and pre-function space.
The complete renovation of the existing arena space included new seating, additional restrooms, additional concession stands, and a new concert stage, as well as an improved sound system and scoreboards. Miron also transformed the existing hotel’s façade to update its look and accommodate new branding.
The City projects the new complex will attract more than 375,000 visitors annually, with a total economic impact of $34 million, and continue the City’s recovery from the 2008 flood.
