Project Overview

The new first-class facility includes a central area with a seating capacity of approximately 4,000, an elevated track, new and improved facilities for racquet sports, intramural sports, running, weight training, health and wellness spaces, locker rooms, space for cardiovascular and aerobic activities, swimming and diving pools, and offices for sports medicine and athletic department staff members.

The Kress Events Center serves as the home court for the women’s basketball and volleyball teams, and an auxiliary court serves as the practice court for the men’s basketball team as well as a site for recreational activities and exercise facilities for the growing general student population. The Center also serves as the site for important campus events.

Due to high student and staff usage, safety was a top priority: weekly toolbox talks were held onsite. There were no lost-time injuries on this project. The project was also finished two months ahead of schedule. Effective pre-planning and phasing allowed the University to utilize office space and certain fitness areas prior to construction completion and the start of the fall semester.
